Blacklands - Stuart Bentley 

We employed Jamie to deal with our garden project as he really understood our requirements and made some exciting and interesting suggestions in his initial design. Ian was punctual, pleasant and hardworking. We really couldn’t recommend crafted landscapes enough! I think with any large scale projects there are always bumps along the road but we were always kept informed and practical solutions were always found. The team at crafted landscapes dealt with all aspects of our garden including fencing, patio, decking, lawn, a bespoke water feature and the construction of high quality outbuildings. The project was undertaken over the winter months but me and my partner cannot wait to use the areas created in the spring. I have attached a before and after photo to give an idea of the quality of workmanship.

CL were recommended by someone on Nextdoor Rye and Jamie was prompt in his response to our enquiry. We already had a pretty good idea of what we wanted to achieve but Jamie was very good at ironing out any problems and suggesting alternative ideas if our plan had to be adapted. The team were punctual, hardworking and courteous. Our garden had very heavy clay, most of which was removed to create more manageable beds at a variety of levels. We also introduced a wildlife pond which Jamie has ensured never floods the patio by including a soak away system. Overall we were really pleased with the end result and would recommend CL.

We’re extremely pleased with the work Jamie and his colleague, Ian, have done on our garden, which has been completely transformed.
What we needed was quite specific and in quite a limited amount of space. Jamie’s approach, from the start, was superb. He has a real can-do attitude, so unforeseen obstacles don’t daunt him. He works calmly around problems and every suggestion is taken on board with admirable positivity.
At the same time, he was great at steering us tactfully away from duff ideas and bearing in mind the finished product. 
He’s a pleasure to have around - good company but unobtrusive and self-sufficient. He’s hard-working, totally reliable and highly creative, with great attention to detail and to the context of the job - particularly the fact that he was working in a small garden of an 18th century cottage.
His drawings and plans were great. He was always instantly responsive and punctual. Jamie wasn’t the cheapest but he was quality and talent - therefore well worth the money, We’d whole-heartedly recommend him.

we had a drainage problem at the side of our house and jamie suggested we lay a stone pathway with a sleeper edge onto turf and created a new soakaway to fix the muddy mess that had got worse. we went away on holiday and when we got back he had finished to a very high standard and we are most pleased with the outcome

We were very unsure initially what we wanted to transform our back garden areas. We contacted  Jamie who gave us plenty of ideas,  for  our Alfresco dining area he came up with the idea of re- using the clay which was dug up from the patio by building a unique earth wall with terracotta pots set inside for lighting candles (on those hot summer evenings).
He has also built us two beautiful patio areas using  Natural Indian Sandstone paving, ( this gave us housing for our hot tub)  and additional outside dining areas, one has a hand built Pergola  constructed by Jamie out of Solid Oak and has tensioned wires across the top for us to grow our climbers up and over. 
Jamie talked us through every step of the Job from start to finish, he turned up everyday at the right time, worked through all weathers, and used top quality materials.
The cost was very reasonable considering the quality of his work and very high standards of perfection.
We would not hesitate in recommending him in the future for anybody needing advice, creative ideas, design work / bespoke landscaping.

Jamie has done an absolutely fabulous job on our back garden. Being large and sloped there was no structure to it which made planning and planting difficult. With Jamie’s ideas and suggestions we now have a gorgeous semi circle feature path made of oak sleepers all of the way around and a fantastic hand built pergola in the middle making the garden usable and practical at the same time.

The best thing about Jamie is his pro-activeness, he got really stuck into our project and came up with lots of suggestions which he took us through and then helped us make a decision about what would suit us best.

His work ethic is second to none, arriving promptly every morning and doing a full days work, the standard of work is incredible and having seen what we’ve had done my neighbours are now booking him as well. Thank you so much Jamie you’re a total star!

Jamie was recommended to us by a local builder he has worked alongside for some time. We had inherited 2 large patios that, when laid originally, were put straight onto earth using "dot and dab" so had no real substructure, had become uneven plus were prone to waterlogging after heavy rain and one section had been undercut by our natural pond so had started to tilt in towards the water. Jamie came up with a design that lifted the patios above water level with a good substructure, oak sleeper and gravel edges around natural Indian sandstone slabs with a couple of small flower beds built in. The work involved a fair bit of excavation and humping outgoing and incoming material by hand and barrow some distance as we could not get machinery to the site. We finessed some elements of the design as the work moved on but overall the final result was as close to the original plan as possible. We found Jamie responsive to our changes and he consulted us along the way as issues developed to ensure we were fully part of the process and approved as needed. We are well pleased with the end result and the new patios should outlast us! Would highly recommend Jamie.
